The Noises

The Noises are a collection of privately owned[1] islands lying northeast of Rakino Island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf. The group is dominated by Otata Island, Motuhoropapa Island and Orarapa Islands which account for most of the surface land area.

The islands are uninhabited. A successful rat eradication program in the 1980s was instrumental in showing that it was possible to recreate pest-free habitats and restoring birdlife.[1] The surrounding waters are a popular location for recreational fishing and diving.
