The Movie (song)
The Movie is a poem written and recorded by Jim Morrison, lead singer of American rock band The Doors. The poem focuses on the mystery and seductive power of cinema and was recorded in 1970. Morrison's influences for this poem are drawn from his time at UCLA film school in 1964. The poem was released on the Doors' ninth and final studio album An American Prayer (1978), which featured poetry read by Morrison with music later added by the band. The musique concrète piece includes microphone sounds. The track is influenced by avant-garde composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and John Cage.
