The Dancer (in French: La Danseuse) is a 2016 French biographical historical drama film directed and written by Stéphanie Di Giusto and co-written by Thomas Bidegain and Sarah Thiebaud, based on the novel by Giovanni Lista. The film stars Soko, Gaspard Ulliel, Mélanie Thierry, Lily-Rose Depp, François Damiens, Louis Garrel and William Houston.

Production

Wild Bunch sold the international rights of the film The Dancer, about the legendary dancer Loie Fuller and her peer Isadora Duncan.[5] Stéphanie Di Giusto would make her feature film directing debut, while Elle Fanning was previously attached to star.[5] Di Giusto, Thomas Bidegain and Sarah Thiebaud wrote the script, while Alain Attal would produce the film through Les Productions du Trésor, along with Les Films du Fleuve, Wild Bunch, and Sirena Film.[6]Jody Sperling served as creative consultant for the film, choreographer for Loie's dances was Soko's personal dance coach. Principal photography on the film began on September 28, 2015, and wrapped up on December 10, 2015.[6][7]
