Plot

Ms. Simian teaches the class about the butterfly effect when Penny asks if they can release the class pupa into the wild, once it emerges from its cocoon, turning itself into a butterfly. Before she can fully explain the dangers of the butterfly effect, the bell rings, and Ms. Simian dismisses the class. As Gumball and Darwin almost leave, they notice the cacoon shaking, and a butterfly emerging from it.

Gumball and Darwin argue on whether or not they should set the butterfly free, and end up deciding to do so. After being released, the butterfly causes a fight between two construction guys, resulting in one of their heads flying off, which later causes a car accident with Mr. Robinson. A hobo robs Mr. Robinson, but a tire from the accident knocks him unconscious, letting a $20 bill fly away. After several Elmore citizens fight for the bill, it ends up in front of Marvin, who tries not to fall down reaching for the bill. The Doughnut Sheriff arrives, and fines Marvin for what he believes to have been, "illegal street dancing." He tries to get the $20 bill from Marvin, only for him to trip and roll down a hill, causing one of his shoes to fly away.

Meanwhile, Alison is seen sitting on a bench, with Rocky walking nearby. The shoe hits Rocky, which causes him to fall in a "marriage proposal" type fashion, accidentally marrying Alison. Rocky tries to run away, only to hurt himself, causing Alison to call Elmore's help desk. On the other line, Karen, who is working there, receives calls from Alison, Rocky, Marvin, Mr. Robinson, and one of the construction guys, Hank. After she becomes frustrated, Karen hangs up on all of them, and she throws her desk out the window.

This causes another car accident, which ultimately results in a tornado forming near the Watterson's house. Ms. Simian returns to the classroom, where Gumball and Darwin admit to setting the butterfly free. The butterfly returns, and Gumball questions how something so tiny could cause chaos. The butterfly flies away from his view, revealing the tornado outside.
