Tariqul Islam

Tariqul Islam (16 November 1946 โ€“ 4 November 2018) was a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and government minister.

Career

Tariqul was a standing committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.[1] He served as the Minister of Information in the Second Khaleda Cabinet.[2][3] He also served as the Minister of Forest and the Environment. On 30 November 2017 he was charged with corruption related to the sell of forest trees during his term as the Minister of Forests.[4] Studied ยท B.Sc in Information and Communication engineering at East West University

Personal life

Tariqul had two sons: Shantonu Islam Sumit and Aninda Islam Amit. On 24 October 2017 they were flown to Singapore for treatment.[5] Aninda Islam Amit is an assistant organising secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.[6]

Death

Tariqul Islam died at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka at 5:05PM on 4 November 2018. He had been suffering from kidney, diabetes and old-age complications. [7]
