The wingspan is 9–12 mm.[3]

The larvae feed on Astragalus glycyphyllos, Coronilla varia, Cytisus scoparius, Dorycnium species, Genista germanica, Genista tinctoria and Ornithopus species. Young larvae make a full-depth broad corridor with irregular lateral expansions, mostly radiating from the midrib of the leaflet. Older larvae also mine, but from a spinning which is used to connect leaves to either each other or the leaf axis. The larvae are dirty yellowish-white with six reddish length lines.[4]
