Overview

The site is located a hill in the Suso neighbourhood of Nanao city, on Notojima within Nanao Bay at approximately 80 meters above the present sea level. The tumulus is approximately 25 meters high and 4.5 meters tall and is unusual in that it contains two lateral hole type stone burial chambers. One chamber is "T-shape" and the other is an inverted "L-shape". Both chambers have been open since antiquity, and their contents is unknown. However, the construction is an unusual example of the Goguryeo-style from the Korean Peninsula, and dates to the late Kofun period, or perhaps the seventh century.

Although open since antiquity, during an excavation from 1953, fragments of a stone sarcophagus lid, fragments of straight swords, Sue ware and earthen ware shards were found in the ground.

From 1960, the site has also been registered as an "Ishikawa Prefecture Cultural Property".
