"Surface" is a trap song by Greek electronic producer Alex Vlastaras, commonly known as his stage name, Aero Chord.[1][2] Surface was released on 23 April 2014, by the independent electronic music label, Monstercat.[3][4]

Reception and release

Raffi of Just Noise To Me generally liked the song, stating "Starting off this stunningly robust production with a rather relaxed edge and distinct sound, it erupts into a monstrous huge trap drop featuring the signature sound seen in previous tracks".[1] Steel Hanf of EARMILK stated "The track explodes just before the 2-minute mark into an in-your-face trap ground shaker that a dance floor will not be able to resist".[2]

Brent Tactic of Complex stated "Surface" is an insane interpretation of trap and dubstep coming together and none of it feels forced or cheesy".[4] Danny Goldin of Your EDM praised the song, stating "The track starts off smooth and builds nicely toward the ground-shaking drop just before the two-minute mark. I’m not exactly sure what you’re supposed to do to stay safe when there’s an earthquake, but if you’ve learned any good safety measures in your years, now would probably be a good time to bust them out".[3]

Surface was featured in the 2015 video game Need for Speed alongside 58 other songs including Break Them, another song by Aero Chord.[5][6]
