Supplemental Performance Report Message

In telecommunications, a Supplemental Performance Report Message (abbreviated SPRM) is used in DS1 transmissions to indicate various conditions. It is a type of Performance Report Message (PRM).

The unused U1, U2, and R bits of a PRM are used in SPRMs primarily to sectionalize circuit failures.

Bit Description
U1 This bit is used to indicate one or more CRC-6 errors or framing errors were detected since the last SPRM message was sent (by remote unit)
U2 This bit is used to indicate that one or more CRC-6 errors, framing errors, BPVs or EXZs were detected since the last SPRM message was sent (by remote unit).
