Sunset League (California)

The Sunset League is a high school athletic conference in Orange County, California affiliated with the CIF Southern Section.[1] The first season was 1937-38 with the charter members Anaheim High School, Huntington Beach High School, Newport Harbor High School, Orange High School, Jordan High School (Long Beach), and Excelsior High School. 24 different schools have been members over the 82 seasons of competition led by Huntington Beach at 70 years thru the 2017-18 term.

Schools

As of 2018, the league is now the Sunset Conference which is broken up into the Surf League and the Wave League. The four schools in each league will change every couple of years based on league standings. The Surf League will be composed of the stronger teams. As of Fall 2018, the conference will be divided by sports as follows:


GIRLS GOLF

Surf League — Los Alamitos (Champions 2018-2019), Corona del Mar, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach,

Wave League — Edison, Laguna Beach, Marina, Newport Harbor.


BOYS WATER POLO

Surf League — Corona del Mar, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Newport Harbor.

Wave League — Edison, Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos, Marina.


BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Surf League — Corona del Mar, Edison, Los Alamitos, Newport Harbor.

Wave League — Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Marina.


GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Surf League — Corona del Mar, Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos, Marina.

Wave League — Edison, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Newport Harbor.


GIRLS TENNIS

Surf League — Corona del Mar, Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos, Newport Harbor.

Wave League — Edison, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Marina.
