Stephen D. Krasner

Krasner was born on February 15, 1942 in New York City.[2] He received his bachelor's degree from the Department of History at Cornell University in 1963, where he was a member of the Quill and Dagger society. He then earned his master's degree from Columbia University and his PhD from Harvard University.

Before coming to Stanford University in 1981, Krasner taught at Harvard University and University of California, Los Angeles. He also served as the editor of editor of International Organization from 1986 to 1992.[3]

Krasner is the author of six books and over ninety articles. He has taught courses on international relations, international political economy, international relations theory, policy making, and state-building at Stanford University. He received a dean’s award for excellence in teaching in 1991. Krasner's scholarship has focused on international regimes, and he is a leading figure in the study of Regime theory. He has also written extensively about statehood and sovereignty. Krasner has been characterized as a neorealist.

Krasner is a senior fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institution.
