Sports analyst

A sports analyst consists of working within the field of a journalist, sportscaster and/or color commentator. A sports analyst will work for a media company that follows sports and their historical and current events and statistics. Such media companies include: ESPN, CBS, TNT, and ABC just to name a few.

As a sports analyst you can go on different career paths within the field and even hold more than one position at once. First we have a sports journalist who reports to the public in the form of writing and includes information about sporting topics, events, and competitions.[1] A sports commentator and sportscaster will give play by play details of a specific sporting event and game. They will also relay information necessary in order to understand the context of that specific sport. Sport commentator examples include Joe Buck, Brent Musburger, and Max Kellerman. Such as when in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell.

Sport analyst are typically former athletes and coaches from their respective sports. There are times where a sports analyst will cover a sport and/or multiple sports even though they have not played that sport previously. Examples are Brad Daugherty, who played professional basketball but covers NASCAR Racing. http://www.americansportscastersonline.com/sportscasterdefinition.html
