Southwest Transplant Alliance

Southwest Transplant Alliance (STA) is a non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) headquartered in Dallas, Texas. It is one of the largest of 58 federally designated OPOs and is ranked among the highest in the nation for the most number of organs transplanted.

STA serves as a bridge between organ donation and transplantation and works 24/7 to evaluate, manage, recover, preserve, allocate and transport organs for transplantation.

Since its inception in 1974, STA has facilitated the recovery of more than 22,000 organs and enhanced the lives of tens of thousands of people.

STA is accredited by the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and is regulated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). It is also a member of the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN).

The organization serves 11 transplant centers and more than 280 hospitals throughout the state of Texas including Abilene, Beaumont, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Galveston, Midland/Odessa, Sherman, Temple, Texarkana, Tyler and Wichita Falls.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] [8][9]
