Simon-Kucher & Partners was founded by Hermann Simon and his doctoral students, Eckhard Kucher and Karl-Heinz Sebastian, in Bonn in 1985.[3] At the time, Simon was a professor at the University of Bielefeld but his specialization in corporate pricing policy began much earlier when he was a doctoral student in the late 1970s.[4] In 1996, Simon-Kucher & Partners became the first independent German consultancy to establish a subsidiary abroad when the firm opened an office in Cambridge, Massachusetts.[5] This was the beginning of Simon-Kucher & Partners' international expansion with one or two new offices opening annually, starting with Paris, Zurich, Tokyo, and Munich.[6]
Company structure and management
Simon-Kucher is owned by more than 100 partners. As the company's only shareholders, the partners are responsible for the company's business success and future growth. The firm is led by the board, which consists of nine partners from different countries and offices. Dr. Georg Tacke has been CEO of Simon-Kucher & Partners since 2009, when Hermann Simon stepped down as board chairman, a position that he had held since 1995.[7]
Offices
Simon-Kucher is represented by 38 offices in 25 countries. In 2012, offices were founded in Istanbul and Dubai. In 2013, Simon-Kucher opened offices in São Paulo, Brazil, and Santiago de Chile. In 2016, a second office in the San Francisco Bay Area was opened, as well as offices in Geneva, Hamburg, and Stockholm. In 2017, Simon-Kucher opened an office in Hong Kong. In 2018, the company opened offices in Chicago, USA, and Shanghai, China, as well as in Cairo, Egypt[2], and Mexico City.
