Scott Horton (radio host)

Horton hosts Antiwar Radio for Pacifica Radio's KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles,[1] as well as the podcast The Scott Horton Show.[1] Horton has conducted over 5,000 interviews since 2003.[1] He is also the director of the Libertarian Institute.[1]

Horton is the editorial director of the non-interventionist news portal Antiwar.com.[1] He was previously the host of Say It Ain't So on Free Radio Austin 97.1 FM, the Weekend Interview Show and the KAOS Report on Radio KAOS 95.9 FM, for which he won The Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin award in 2007 for "Best Iraq War Coverage".[2]

Horton's book Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan (2017) is an account of the War in Afghanistan, which argues that the United States should end its presence in the country.[3] Philip Giraldi of The American Conservative described the work as a "masterful account of America’s prolonged Afghan engagement."[4] Writing in The Hill, Young Americans for Liberty president Cliff Maloney said the Washington Post's publication of the Afghanistan Papers in December 2019 validated Horton's thesis in Fool's Errand that “Osama bin Laden must have died content, knowing that his plan to bog the U.S. down in such a long, bloody and expensive war… was at the very pinnacle of its success at the time he was finally put down.”[5] A presentation on Fool’s Errand delivered to the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania was featured on C-SPAN's Book TV series in 2018.[6]

In late 2019, Horton joined the Libertarian Party to support Jacob Hornberger’s presidential campaign.[7]
