Sayantani Guhathakurta

Sayantani Guhathakurta[2] is an Indian film and television actress working mainly in Bengali films. She is well known for her roles in Samantaral (2017), Ek Je Chhilo Raja, Hoichoi Unlimited. She made her South-indian debut with the 2019 Telugu language Adult horror comedy film, Chikati Gadilo Chithakotudu. Besides acting in films she has worked on numerous Bengali and Hindi television soaps.

Early life

Sayantani's family originally hails from Barisal in Bangladesh.[3] She grew up in Kolkata and she lost her father in her fifth grade. She began learning dance from age five. She is well trained in the Classical Dance form of the Thankamani Kutty Gharana and later started her own dance troupe called Aadrika. At one point, Sayantani even considered pursuing Dance, full-time. By virtue of her career in Dance, she had to do a number of shows across the state and the country. In one such Show, a talent agency took note of her and subsequently she was offered modelling roles in Boutique and Jewelry ads and in Advertorial Billboards. During this time she also took part in a Beauty Contest where she was a runner-up.[4]
She has her Masters' in Political Science and also did a course in Fashion Design.

Career

Sayantani made her acting debut with the 2013 Bengali movie Mahakash Kando, directed by Nitish Roy. She made her with Kiranmala. She was also cast later in the hit Bengali soap Jamai Raja that was telecasted on Zee Bangla in 2017.

Personal life

Sayantani is known within the Bengali film industry for her soft-spoken nature. She is an avid traveller and loves watching theatre performances.[5]
