Sarmistha Pritam

Sarmistha Pritam is an (Assamese: শৰ্মিষ্ঠা প্ৰীতম) Assamese writer, born on 1987 at Phulaguri, Nagaon, Assam.

Personal life

Sarmistha Pritam was born on 1987 at Phulaguri, Nagaon Assam. Her father's name is Abhoy Baruah and mother's name is Renu Baruah. She started her schooling at Phulaguri L.P school and later she joined Phulaguri High School. She passed her higher secondary education from Raha High School and Higher Studies from Raha College. She was a daily writer of various Assamese newspapers. Sarmistha Pritam is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare degenerative crippling neuromuscular disease from her childhood. She is unable to walk.

Literary life

She started her career as daily writer of various Assamese magazine and newspapers. Later she published her own life story Sarmisthar Atmakatha as a book.

Organisation

She is Life member of "Ellora Vigyan Mancha", a non-profit making, non governmental organisation for spreading scientific temper. She is an organ/body donor.

Award
