Sadalga

Sadalga (or Sadalaga) is a town in Chikodi taluka, in the Belgaum district of Karnataka, India. It is situated near the Maharashtra border and is located on the banks of the Dudhaganga river. Many taluka level offices are situated throughout the town.

Geography

Sadalga is located at 16.57°N 74.55°E / 16.57; 74.55.[1] It has an average elevation of 534 metres (1751 feet) and is a town in the Belgavi District found in the Indian state of Karnataka. The Doodh Ganga river flows to the northern side of the town. It is 593 km away from Bangalore, the state capital city.

Demographics

As of 2011, according to the India census,[2] Sadalgao had a population of 23,790. The population is 51% male and 49% female.

Sadalga has an average literacy rate of 68%. The male literacy rate is 73%, and the female literacy rate is 63%. The town consists of several different medium schools like Kannada, Marathi, and English. The town also has Arts and Commerce PU and Degree College, Industrial Training Institute College. Recently, a new Government Polytechnic College and Kendriya Vidyalaya have also started in town.

The main spoken language in Sadalga is Kannada, and the other spoken languages are English, Marathi, and Hindi.

1008 Parshwanath Digambar Jain mandir, 1008 Shri Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain mandir, 1008 Shri Digambar Jain mandir, 1008 Shri Adinath Digambar Jain mandir, There are total 18 Jain Saadhu's(Monk's) from this City. So Sadalgao is also called as Dharmanagari. There are 6 Jain Temples in this City. Jain's have played a major role in city Development. Maximum Councillors are from the Jain community in both Congress and Bhartiya Janta Party. Mahadev Mandir, Vitthal Mandir, Ekavira Mandir, Ganesh Mandir, Aranyasiddheswar Mandir, Hanuman Mandir And Bhandarad Odeya Dhari Deva Temple

Khwaja Shamanamir Dargah, Puratan Datta Mandir are the temples in the town. In the Start of the city in Chikodi road, there is a Mahaveer Circle and Sadalgao Proud Jain Monk Sant Shiromani Acharya Shree Vidyasagarji Maharaj Gate is there. The famous Maratha Empire Founder Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk located near New Bus Stand, Sadalga. There are many Religious buildings sectioned by MLA Shri.

Farming is the main source of livelihood of the town. The farmers in town use both old and modern techniques for cultivation. Nowadays some of the educated children are joining the farming industry and utilizing advanced technology. Sugar is the main crop grown in this area, although there are a few other crops grown in lesser numbers.
