Ryan Patrick

Ryan Kelley Goeb Patrick (born 1979) is an American lawyer and former judge who currently serves as the United States Attorney for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He was appointed to the position by U.S. President Donald Trump on November 2, 2017, confirmed by voice vote in the United States Senate on December 20, 2017,[3][4] and assumed office on January 8, 2018.[5] Patrick's investiture ceremony occurred on September 18, 2018.[6]

Patrick previously served as a political director for the Harris County Republican Party from 2002 to 2004 and as an assistant district attorney for Harris County from 2006 to 2012.[7][2] In 2012, Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed Patrick to be a judge at the 177th state district court, and Patrick was elected to the position in 2012,[8] though he lost the seat in 2016 in an election sweep by Democrats after winning a four-year term in November 2012.[2][9] Patrick subsequently returned to private practice.[2]

Patrick is the son of Dan Patrick, who serves as Lieutenant Governor of Texas,[9][10][11] and he swore-in his father at his inauguration ceremony in 2015.[12] He graduated from Baylor University in 2001[13] and earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law in 2006.[7][9][2]

Patrick and his wife have three children and live in Houston.[4]
