Ruth Wignall

Ruth Elizabeth Wignall (née Dodsworth; born 21 May 1975), is a British journalist and broadcaster, who currently appears on ITV.

Career

Ruth is best known as a weather presenter but began her career in radio, working as a researcher for BBC Radio Wales[2] before training as a news reporter and presenter.[3] She joined HTV Wales (now ITV Cymru Wales) in June 1997.

She has also presented a wide range of programmes for ITV Cymru Wales, including The Ferret, Grassroots, coverage of the Royal Welsh Show and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Wales This Week, A Little Piece of Paradise, The Night Before the Morning After and the BAFTA-nominated Coast and Country.[3][4]

In September 2015, Ruth joined Nation Radio as co-presenter of the station's breakfast show, The Big Welsh Wake Up, alongside Niall Foster and in November 2016 then began, co-presenting a weekday breakfast show for five local radio stations in south and west Wales – Radio Pembrokeshire, Radio Carmarthenshire, Radio Ceredigion, Swansea Bay Radio and 106.3 Bridge FM.

Education

After graduating with a degree in communications, Ruth studied postgraduate journalism at Cardiff University through an ITV sponsored course.[3]

Charity work

Ruth works tirelessly for many charities in Wales. She is an ambassador for Cancer Research Wales and Children's Hospice Ty-Hafan she also took part in a trek across the Sahara desert with husband Jonathan in early 2016.
