Royce Wallace

Royce Wallace (May 9, 1925 - November 24, 1992) was an American veteran stage and screen actress (Funny Lady) who had a long, distinguished career in films and television from the 1960s through the 1980s. She has appeared mostly in guest roles on Sanford and Son, The Paper Chase,[1] Benson, Soap, Quincy, M.E., and Roots: The Next Generations. She also played in Barnaby Jones, episode titled “Theater of fear”, alongside Anne Francis (09/26/1975). [2][3]

Career

Wallace started acting on Broadway, appearing in productions throughout the 1940s and 1950s such as Funny Girl (1964) and Carmen Jones (1943, which ran for two years) which was her first stage appearance. In the 1960s, Wallace was a founding co-member of the Cambridge Players theatrical group, a group which included some of the distinguished black actresses such as Esther Rolle (of Good Times TV show fame), Lynn Hamilton (who starred as "Donna" on the hit NBC-TV sitcom Sanford and Son), and Helen Martin of NBC-TV's 227.[4]

Death

Wallace died on November 24, 1992, in Ventura, California, at the age of 67.
