On Wednesday, October 31, 2012, the Vatican Information Service (VIS) bulletin of the Holy See Press Office stated that Pope Benedict XVI "appointed Bishop of Puerto Escondido (Mexico) the Rev. Monsignor Pedro Vázquez Villalobos, Vicar General of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. The Rev. Monsignor Pedro Vázquez Villalobos was born September 16, 1950 at Huisquilco, Jalisco, today a part of the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. He was ordained a priest for the same diocese April 15, 1975. After ordination he held the following positions: assistant parish priest of the Parish San Agustín in Tototlán (1990-1996) and Santa Maria Guadalupe at Arandas (1996-2010), and Coordinator of the Fraternal Asistencia (Fraternal Assistance) y Seguro Social para los sacerdotes diocesanos. Since 2010, he has been serving as Vicar General of the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. He is also a member of the Priests' Council and the Board of Consultants."[3]
