Rohida

Rohida is a village in Sirohi district of Indian state of Rajasthan. Rohida is the death place of Rohita (or Rohitaswa) the son of satayavadi raja Harish Chandra,the name of this village is also taken by the name of rohitaya. Rohida is the birthplace of the historian Gaurishankar Hirachand Ojha. In 1922 Motilal Tejawat organized Eki Movement to unit tribals at Rohida. The village is known for Rodwal Brahman community. The Maharaja of Sirohi State and Mewar State doneted the land to the Rodwal Brahmans. The village is known for Somnath Mahadev, Rajrajeshwar Mahadev and Sugreeveshwar Mahdev Temples. After independence, when Panchayati Raj established, the village unanimously elected Shri Ravishankar Shankarlal Yagnik, one of freedom fighters from Rodwal community as first Sarpanch (Head of Gram Panchayat) of the village, who also has been elected the first Tehsil Pradhan of the Pindwara Tehasil, after he represented the cosnstiteuency to Rajasthan Assembly. Here, Marwadi language is spoken which is somewhat similar to Mewadi language in pronunciation and words. Devnagari script is used to write it.the history of rohida is related to Parshurama, at the period of mahabharata parchuram visited rohida and established lord Shiva temple and named it Jabeshwar mahadev Mandir Its nearly about 4 km far from the rohida, Ancient SURYA Temple is just 2 km away at Vasa.
