Robert McGovern (businessman)

Robert McGovern is an American businessperson and founder of CareerBuilder.

McGovern founded CareerBuilder in 1995 as NetStart Inc.[1] The company went public in 1999 and went private again in 2000 when it was bought for $250 million.[2][3] McGovern served as the company's CEO until leaving in 2002.[3]

In 2004, McGovern founded a second online job site, Jobfox.[2]

In June 2009, he was in a car accident and suffered severe brain injury. Diagnostic tests initially predicted he would remain in a vegetative state, but he recovered and returned to Jobfox in March 2010.[2]

In 2013, McGovern launched Cobrain, a software that made merchandise recommendations based on users' shopping history.[4][5]

In 2016, the Cobrain name changed to PreciseTarget.[6] In July 2019, PreciseTarget launched its first retail data products.[7]
