Roadburn Festival

Roadburn Festival is an international music festival held in Tilburg, Netherlands every April since 1999. It was set up as a spin-off from the Roadburn music blog founded by Jurgen van den Brand and Walter Hoeijmakers. Originally focused on stoner rock, Roadburn grew into a major event spanning the entire spectrum of heavy rock and experimental music. The key staff involved with running the festival are Frens Frijns (managing director), Walter Hoeijmakers (promoter, artistic director) and Becky Laverty (press, communication, side programme).[1]

2020 edition

The 2020 edition of Roadburn was set to take place on Thursday, April 16 to Sunday, April 19, 2020, but due to the coronavirus outbreak[2] it has been cancelled with much of the program being postponed until 2021.[3]

This edition's guest curators are Emma Ruth Rundle and James Kent, also known as Perturbator.

2010 edition

The event took place in Tilburg, at 013 and, for the first time, at the Midi Theatre.

It was sold-out in 30 minutes.

This edition suffered from the air travel disruption on Northern Europe due to the ash cloud from Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Several bands had to cancel, some others played twice to step in.

Soilent Green cancelled their appearance at Afterburner.

Due to the closure of the North European airspace, Outlaw Order, Sourvein, Dixie Witch and House of Broken Promises also cancelled.

The event took place in Tilburg, at 013 and another venue called V39 used for the first time.

It was sold-out in 45 minutes.
