History

The theater building was built in 1937 and was used for its intended purpose throughout the 20th century. In the period 1985 - 1996 was a popular private cinema and theater. In 1954 it became the first cinema in Lincoln to have Cinemascope installed. At the end of this period, only films were shown in the hall, and with the opening of the Odeon cinema, it was finally closed. In 2013 the Ritz Cinema was restored and reopened by Pete Genders, but at the end of August 2017 it has closed after the lease expired on the building. Now there is a pub in the building.

Artists who performed on the stage of the theater:

Sister Sledge
The Notting Hillbillies (in 1990 during the concert a bootleg was recorded)
Howard Keel
Danny La Rue
