Ransohoff
Ransohoff, or Ransonov (Russian: Рансонов) is a family of German Jewish ancestry, allegedly originating in Russia. Notable individuals bearing this surname include:
- Sigismund Ransohoff (1790–1883), a Westphalian doctor and liberal politician who participated in the Frankfurt Parliament; he later became one of the first Jews to be awarded an Iron Cross and the title of Privy Councilor to the Prussian King.
- Joseph Ransohoff (1915–2001), an American neurosurgeon, inventor, and former chairman of the New York University School of Medicine.
- Daniel J. Ransohoff (1921–1993), Cincinnati-based photographer and social worker.
- Martin Ransohoff (1927–2017), a cinema and television producer.
- Steven Ransohoff, co-president of Film Finances Inc., a completion bond finance company.
