Ranju Darshana

Ranju Darshana (Born as Ranju Neupane on 3 March 1996) is a youth activist and young politician of Nepal. Active in youth politics from 4 years Darshana became an iconic person after her candidacy for the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the Nepal Local Level Election 2017[1] .[2] Darshana is in role of central committee member and media coordinator of Bibeksheel Nepali a newly established political party. She was elected as central member by first general convention of the party in late 2015.[2]

Ranju has entered into the politics from activism against Nepal Bandha or conditional national strike[3] Darshana was active in the rescue activities during the big April 2015 Nepal earthquake.[1] She was one of the active lady in mobilizing youths in peaceful protest against corruption especially in the medical sector reform drive of Dr. Govinda KC.[1]

Ranju, who had raised a slogan of "Kathmandu the most beautiful city in the world" for this election drive[2] secured third position with 23,439 votes. Bidya Sundar Shakya a candidate from Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) was elected with 64,913 votes.[4]

Darshana has committed to keep in working in social field to correct the politics of the society even after she was defeated in the mayoral election.[5]

Education

Darshana has studied in Bhanubhakta Memorial Higher Secondary School and National College Kathmandu.
