The purplish jacamar (Galbula chalcothorax) is a species of bird in the family Galbulidae.

It is found in the western Amazon Basin of Ecuador, Peru, southern Colombia and western parts of Acre and Amazonas. Its natural habitat is subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests.
