Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal

The Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (Spanish: Unión Postal de las Américas, España y Portugal; UPAEP) is an association of the postal authorities of the countries of the Americas and more Spain and Portugal.

History

In 1838 a postal treaty signed by Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia was signed in Bogotá, and since 1864 several countries in the Americas had organized the creation of a postal union, and so it was founded in 1911 under the official name of the South American Postal Union and that from 1921 it began to admit members of the central and northern Americas and in 1926 Spain became part of the entity; in 1931 receives the adhesion of Canada and of Haiti and finally m 1991 Portugal enters the entity and the same happens to have the current juridical configuration

It was founded in 1911 as a restricted union of the Universal Postal Union.[1]

It is headquartered in Montevideo, Uruguay.
