Polina Shuvalova

Polina Shuvalova (Russian: Полина Сергеевна Шувалова; born 12 March 2001) is a Russian Woman Grandmaster (WGM) (2019).She is the 2019 World Girls U-20 Champion [1] as well as the World Girl's U18 Champion in 2018 [2] and 2019.[3]

Biography

Polina Shuvalova was Moscow chess school schoolgirl. In 2017, she won the Russian Junior Chess Championship in the U21 girls age group.[4]

In the 2000s Polina Shuvalova repeatedly represented Russia at the European Youth Chess Championships and World Youth Chess Championships in different age groups, where she won four medals: two gold (in 2013, at the European Youth Chess Championship in the U12 girls age group,[5] and in 2018, at the World Youth Chess Championship in the U18 girls age group[6]), silver (in 2017, at the World Youth Chess Championship in the U16 girls age group[7]) and bronze (in 2016, at the World Youth Chess Championship in the U16 girls age group[8]).

In April 2016, she won the Moscow Women's Chess Championship.[9] In December 2017, in Saint Petersburg Polina Shuvalova made her debut in the Russian Women's Chess Championship Superfinal in which she shared 7st-9st place with Marina Nechaeva (tournament won Aleksandra Goryachkina).[10] In September 2018, in Satka she took 8th place in the Russian Women's Chess Championship Superfinal.[11] In October 2019, she won World Youth Chess Championship in G18 age group.[12]

In 2016, she was awarded the FIDE International Women Master (WIM) title.[13]
