Pilvai

Pilvai is a village in Mehsana district in the state of Gujarat. Pilvai (Pin 382850) is located in Vijapur county and connected to Mehsana, Himatnagar, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad by road. Ahmedabad international Airport is approximately 60 km (37 miles) from Pilvai. Pilvai has several educational institutes.[1]

Festival

Makar Sakranti, Uttarayan or Kite Flying Day, is the biggest festival in Pilvai typically celebrated on 14 January each year. Everybody has time off from work, school and colleges are closed for this special holiday. Seasonal change is around the corner. Cold Winter is about to finish and beautiful spring and summer with lots of sun are to come. Local celebration begins with feeding sacred animals including street dogs in the early morning, chanting holy Bhajan in the streets and praying for peace and welfare for the world. People start flying colorful fighter kite in the sky and enjoy entire day on the street or on the roof in a sunny day. People like to enjoy fighter kite watching in the sky. People enjoy a special lunch including Undhiyu and Jalebi.
