Pentachondra pumila, the carpet heath, is a small plant in the family Ericaceae.[2][1]

A semi alpine plant growing above the tree line in Australia and New Zealand. The form is in prostrate mats 3 cm high and 40 cm across. Frilly flowers and red fruit may appear at the same time.
Distribution
In New Zealand this species is found in the North, South and Stewart Islands.[3] Pentachondra pumila occurs in subalpine and alpine grassland, rocky and boggy places.[3]
