Paul Lundsten

Paul Lundsten is an American lawyer and retired judge. He served on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals for the Madison-based District IV from 2000 until his retirement in 2019.

Biography

Lundsten was born on August 11, 1955, in La Crosse, Wisconsin.[1] He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin Law School. Lundsten is married with three children.

Career

Lundsten was Assistant Attorney General of Wisconsin from 1983 until 2000, when he joined the Court of Appeals. During his time as Assistant Attorney General, he served with Attorneys General Bronson La Follette, Don Hanaway and Jim Doyle, who later became Governor of Wisconsin.

On October 31, 2000, Governor Tommy Thompson appointed Lundsten to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals to replace retiring Judge William Eich.[2] Judge Lundsten was elected to a full term in 2001, defeating attorney Charlie Schutze, and was subsequently re-elected in 2007 and 2013. In 2019 he announced he would not seek a fourth term. He retired from the court July 31, 2019.[3]
