OutSystems was founded in 2001 in Lisbon, Portugal[1] and is currently headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States[2], with offices in 11 countries.

In June 2018 OutSystems secured a $360M round of funding from KKR and Goldman Sachs and reached the status of Unicorn.[3][4]

OutSystems is a member of the Consortium of IT Software Quality (CISQ).

OutSystems is a low-code platform for the development of mobile and web enterprise applications, which run in the cloud, on-premises or in hybrid environments.[5]

In 2014 OutSystems launched a free version of the platform that provides developers with personal cloud environments to create and deploy web and mobile applications without charge.[6] The current version is 11, for both the paid and unpaid versions.

In 2019 OutSystems was cited as a leader in the Forrester Wave: Low-Code Development Platforms For AD&D Professionals, Q1 2019[7][8] and in the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms[9][10] by Gartner.

In July 2019 OutSystems was also named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Multiexperience Development Platforms [11][12]

The OutSystems platform has won multiple CODiE Awards by the Software and Information Industry Association for Best mobile Development Solution in 2016,[13] 2017,[14] 2018 [15] and 2019 .[16]
