Octavian Ursu (politician)
Octavian Ursu (born 27th October 1967, in Bucharest, Romania)[1] is a German politician for the Christian Democratic Union and mayor of Görlitz since June 2019.
Life
Born in Bucharest, before he went into politics, Ursu was a classical musician; he graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest in 1986 and was the solo trumpeter of the Neuen Lausitzer Philharmonie.[1] He is married, has two children[2] and is an Orthodox Christian.[1]
Running with the Christian Democratic Union, Ursu was elected as a representative of Görlitz in the 2014 Saxony state election and in June 2019, he was elected mayor of Görlitz.[3][4]
