Nowgong College

Nowgong College, established in 1944, is one of the oldest undergraduate, co-educational college situated in Nagaon, Assam. This college is affiliated to Gauhati University.[1]

History

Nowgong College, established on 7th August 1944, is one of the pioneer colleges of Assam. Established with the permission from the University of Calcutta, the college has been playing a pivotal role in imparting quality education since its inception. The college is located at the heart of Nagaon district. It imparts Under graduate and Post Graduate level of education with about 90 faculty members, and offers major courses in all subjects in Arts, Commerce and Science stream. Thanks to the arduous efforts of its founder like Jananeta Moti Ram Bora, Principal Sahityacharyya Jajneswar Sharma, some distinguished personalities, administrators, teachers and students, the college has produced many extra-ordinary talents and made a distinguished position in the academic, social and intellectual realm of the state.[4]
