Nila (2016 film)
Nila (transl. Moon) is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language film directed by newcomer Selvamani Selvaraj and starring Sruthi Hariharan and Vicky. The film released in film festivals before being released on Netflix.[1]

Plot
Two childhood friends Nila (Sruthi Hariharan) and Vimal (Vicky) reunite. Vimal is a taxi driver from Mumbai and one day, Nila rides in his taxi. He had never proposed to her in his life and this is his second chance, howvere, he is unaware of the other side of Nila. When Vimal learns the truth, Nila gets emotional as she enjoys his presence.[1][2]

Production
The director, Selvamani, previously worked as an assistant director to Ang Lee during the Hollywood film Life of Pi (2012). The film stars Sruthi Hariharan and Vicky, who starred in supporting roles in Vadacurry (2014) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2015). Hariharan was signed for the role after the director watched the Kannada film Lucia (2013) with her while Vicky bagged the role after auditioning. Nila takes place during the night. The film was showcased at the 25th Cinequest Film Festival, the Raindance Film Festival in London and the 16th New York Indian Film Festival.[3]
