Nikita Aria

Nikita Aria Palekar also known as Supriya, is an Indian TV presenter, creative director, model, actress, Veejay, western jazz, ballet, contemporary and classical dancer. She hosted several TV shows & live events across the globe, modeled in commercials and acted in prime time TV soaps, corporate and feature films in various languages.

Career

Nikita graduated in Economics and post graduated in International Business and Finance but chose modelling as a career and modeled in fashion shows for popular regional clothing brands like Globus and Histyle alongside famous models like John Abraham, Dino Morea and Fleur Xavier. She has also been the show-stopper for Kirtilal Kalidas Diamond Jewellers.

During her modelling days, she was spotted by ad filmmakers who cast her in various commercials including Wrigleys Chewing Gum, ACC Cements, Kalyan Silks, Gold and Diamond Jewellery for Saravana Stores, Vivek & Co Superstore, Videocon washing machine, Franch oil NH and Amrutanjan Pain Relief Balm to name a few. She has worked on-screen as well as behind the screen in planning, visualizing and designing concepts for location and studio photoshoots

She also received offers from popular television channels to present shows and interview celebrities. She hosted several live celebrity events in Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka including Screen Awards, Cinema Express Awards, ITFA Film Awards in Singapore, Miss India South (with the panel of judges including Miss Universe Sushmita Sen), Miss Chennai, International Music festival in Sharjah along with Popular film actor and comedian Vivek and exclusive interviews with fashion icons, film and sports celebrities as she went on to become one of the top TV presenters of her time. Her fame as a TV presenter led to TV and filmmakers offering her roles to play in their projects.

She was first spotted by Ace Director K. Balachander to play one of the lead roles in his tele serial project Jannal in 1998. Since then she has worked with several top directors in TV soaps and played important roles in films in various languages.

Nikita was much appreciated for her main role in the Kannada film Majanu.,[1] remake of a superhit Tamil film Love today. She was also awarded the chinna thirai TV soap awards in 2006 for the Best Performance in the popular south Asian TV soaps, Manaivi and Penn.

Early life

Nikita was born in Bombay and hails from a family of medical specialists. At the age of 5, she began her professional training in Russian Ballet from the Russian Cultural Centre and the Classical South Asian dance form of Bharatnatyam from Sree Bharatalaya Dance School. At 7, she made her first appearance on television in a documentary based on Classical Dance for the National TV Network alongside her guru Padmashree Sudharani Raghupathy. At 12, she was a recipient of the scholarship for dance from the Centre of Cultural Resources and Training, Ministry of Human Resources, New Delhi. With a keen interest in international dance forms, she went on to study and train in dances such as Ballet, Jazz, Ballroom and Contemporary dance in London and New York.
