Ned Ryun

Ned Ryun (born February 28, 1973) is the founder and CEO of American Majority, a conservative organization that identifies and trains candidates and activists who will become involved in local government, school district governance, or state legislatures. He is the publisher of NedRyun.com, a website on which he publishes the podcast series History of the Constitutional Convention, a collection of podcasts providing a behind-the-scenes look at the Philadelphia Convention; and Days of Revolution, a history of the American colonies from the French and Indian War until the American Revolution. Ryun has authored two books with his brother Drew Ryun. Ryun and his wife, Becca Parker Ryun, currently live in Purcellville, Virginia with their four children.

Education and background

Ryun graduated co-valedictorian from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas from 1996 to 2000. Ryun graduated with highest honors in English and History.[1] While there, Ryun also ran on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams.

Ryun, the son of former U.S. Congressman Jim Ryun,[2] was a former presidential writer for Republican President George W. Bush and the co-founder and former director of the Conservative agenda Generation Joshua program.[3]

Authored books

Ned Ryun has co-authored two books with his father and twin brother, Drew Ryun. Heroes Among Us[4] was released in 2002 and The Courage to Run[5] was released in 2006.

Media appearances

Ryun has been featured on Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, Politico and The Washington Post, among other notable media outlets.[6] He is an occasional front page contributor to RedState.com, the "most widely read right of center blog on Capitol Hill."[7] Ryun is a regular contributor to the American Spectator website.[8] He also writes opinion pieces for American Greatness.[9]

American Majority

In 2008, Ned Ryun founded American Majority, Inc., an organization devoted to identifying and training grassroots candidates for state and local elections. He currently serves as the group's CEO. American Majority is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

Ryun and American Majority gained notability during the 2011 Wisconsin protests over the state's 2011 budget. While predominantly liberal protestors and members of Wisconsin labor unions filled the Wisconsin State Capitol demanding that the Act 10 legislation be defeated, Ryun and other organizations affiliated with the Tea Party organized a February 19 counter-rally to support Wisconsin governor Scott Walker outside of the state capitol building. Speaking alongside Ryun were Andrew Breitbart, Herman Cain, novelist Brad Thor, and others.

American Majority Action

In 2010, Ned Ryun founded American Majority Action, a conservative 501(c)(4) nonprofit political action organization which focuses on voter education and mobilization efforts.[10] American Majority Action is affiliated with American Majority, a nonprofit political training organization that identifies and trains grassroots candidates and activists for local and state campaigns.[11]

Voter Gravity

Voter Gravity is a "campaign technology company"[12] founded by Ned Ryun in 2012. The company developed an application for political campaigns and organizations get out the vote efforts. The application works on tablets and smart phones providing "canvassing maps, walk lists, voter information and dialing tools"[13] that update in real time to a database. Ned Ryun currently serves as the CEO of Voter Gravity.
