Nancy (singer)

Nancy Jewel McDonie (Korean: 낸시 조월 맥다니; born April 13, 2000), known professionally as Nancy (Korean: 낸시), is a American-South Korean singer, actress and a host, a member of the girl group Momoland, which was formed in November 10, 2016 through the Mnet's reality survival show Finding Momoland.[1][2]

Early life and education

Nancy was born to a Korean-American mother and an American father of Irish ancestry. She spent most of her life in Ohio, USA.[3]

She graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School on February 9, 2018, where she was a student in the Musical Department.[4]

Career

Pre-debut

Nancy auditioned in Korea's Got Talent as part of a hip-hop group called "Cutie Pies" in 2011, The group reached the semi-finals.[5] She was a former trainee of Nega Network.

She appeared in various TV programs in her teens, such as The Unlimited Show where she had visited Philippines and Saipan, along with South Korean actress Kim Yoo-jung.[6]

Nancy also appeared in music videos such as Snuper’s "Stand By Me" and MC Gree’s "Dangerous".

2016: Finding Momoland, debut with Momoland, and Sunny Girls

In 2016, nancy became a contestant on Mnet's reality survival show Finding Momoland. It is an show to select a members to the girl group Momoland, She finished the competition in second place, becoming a member of momoland. The group officially made their debut on November 10, 2016 with releasing their first mini album Welcome to Momoland.[7]

On November 19, it was announced that she was a member of Inkigayo's project girl group Sunny Girls along with GFriend's Eunha, WJSN's Cheng Xiao, Oh My Girl's YooA and Gugudan's Nayoung.[8][9]

2020–present: Upcoming acting debut

On October 4, 2019, Dreamscape Entertainment, who is the production company of the show, announced that Nancy will be starring as the female lead in an upcoming new Filipino drama series, titled The Soulmate Project, alongside Filipino-Australian actor, James Reid, consists of 13 episodes, Nancy revealed that her character, Binna, is a "Korean-American who lives in the Philippines". She also revealed that the filming will also takes part in her home country South Korea[10]. the drama is set to air in 2020.[11][12].
