Nancie Colling

Florence Nancie Colling MBE (née Whalley) is a former international lawn bowls competitor for England.[1]

Bowls career

In 1973 she won a silver medal's in the fours with Phyllis Derrick, Eileen Smith and Joan Sparkes at the 1973 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Wellington, New Zealand and also earned a bronze medal in the team event (Taylor Trophy).[2]

In addition to the World Championship medals she won three singles titles (1956, 1958 and 1970) at the England Women's National Championships when bowling for Somerset.[3] [4]

Remarkably she won the third of her National titles in 1970 four years after a spine injury had temporarily paralysed her.[5]

During the 1996 Birthday Honours she was awarded an MBE for services to bowls.[6] [7]

Colling was recognized on her 100th Birthday in 2019.[8]
