Plot

According to a myth, when Cobras are of a certain age, they can assume human form. Thus, the film begins with a male (Jeetendra) and a female (Reena Roy) in their human forms, singing and dancing amorously with each other. One day the Male gets attacked by a Vulture and he was saved by Professor Vijay (Sunil Dutt). Male thanks him for saving his life then he asks what is he doing here and Vijay replies that he is searching for shapeshifting snakes. Male then turn himself into cobra infront of Vijay and goes to his lover female. Vijay realises that he found the shapeshifting snakes and inform his friends Raj (Feroz Khan), Rajesh (Vinod Mehra), Uday (Kabir Bedi), Kiran (Anil Dhawan) and Suraj (Sanjay Khan). But his friends doesn't believe him and laugh at him. Vijay then take them to the place where he met the male serpent and they secretly sees the snakes. When the male turns back into a Cobra, he is shot by Kiran, who thought the Cobra was going to attack the woman. The female sees in the male cobra eyes, as cobra has taken captured images of the killers. The rest of the story deals with the female taking revenge on the group of friends responsible for her lover's death. In the end, Vijay is the only one alive and the Nagin dies before trying to kill him and realizes that she was wrong and that her revenge destroyed many lives just like her own life was destroyed. Near death, she sees her beloved in the sky calling out to her. She dies and reunites with him in heaven.
