Website

The international art research platform helps professionals and newcomers to understand the art market. With an aim to create transparency, the website allows users to research art, find new artists, contact galleries directly and analyze data.

The website does not function as a listings service to retain objectivity. To be listed on the MutualArt website, an artist must have exhibited or sold work at one of the 17,000+ museums, galleries and auction houses the site covers.

MutualArt offers several tiers of membership, providing different levels of access to its services. It also includes an online appraisals service,[1] allowing users to submit works to a team of art experts for an online valuation.

Services

Art Price Database: Their searchable database provides decades worth of auction results and estimates. Through it, users can research, track and evaluate the art market.

Art Market Alerts: Users can follow artists to receive personalized updates about when works go on auction, new exhibitions or articles.

Art Appraisal: Their online appraisal service gives an expert valuation in 72 hours.

Art Advisory Services: An in-house Art Services Team is available to respond to specific inquiries, offering expert insight into everything from collection management to assessing the correct venue for sales. Due to demand, this service is only available for artworks valued in excess of $10,000.

Mobile app

In 2009, MutualArt launched MutualArt Exhibitions, an app that helps users find upcoming exhibitions nearby. Users can find events from cities all over the world and receive personalized recommendations tailored to their favorite artists.

Membership

MutualArt offers several types of membership, which vary by price and the level of access a member has to services. The platform's Personal Alerts plan provides members with updates on their preferred art, delivered through email alerts. These email alerts include information about upcoming exhibitions and auctions, including estimates for upcoming lots, recent sales results and links to recent press coverage.

Premium Members also receive email alerts adapted to their interests and can access MutualArt's database of past auction prices and upcoming auction estimates. They also have access to the site's Art Market Analysis[2] pages which track the performance of different categories of art, as well as measuring auctions by artist name, artwork medium and sale location. This service is an example of a Decision Support System.

Coverage

Partnerships

In 2018, MutualArt partnered with ArtTactic to promote the ArtTactic Forecaster, the free online competition that lets you guess auction prices. Winners received an annual Premium subscription to both MutualArt Analytics and ArtTactic Research.

MutualArt also partnered with gallery Catawiki, offering a series of spotlights on auction highlights.

Data aggregation

To ensure published information is accurate and from a verified source, MutualArt uses a thorough manual review process. Collected data is reviewed by a human moderator, who verifies its accuracy prior to publication.
