Muhammad Hasan Abi al-Mahasin

Muhammad Hassan Abi Al-Mahasin Al-Karbala'ie Al-Maliki was an Iraqi poet and politician.

Life and career

Muhammad Hasan al-Mahasin, also rendered as Hassan al-Maliki,[1] was one of the leaders of the Iraqi revolution against the British occupation during and after the First World War. Muhammad Hasan Abi al-Mahasin was the president of the Revolutionary Council then (Al- majlis Al- milli المجلس الملي) in 1920. He became the Minister of Education in the first national government of the Royal Reign of King Faisal I after independence in 1922. He is of the Albu Muhsin family of Al-Ghati offshoot of Al-Ali tribe a branch of Bani Malik tribe. Muhammad Hasan Abi al-Mahasin is the grandfather of Nouri al-Maliki the prime minister of Iraq from 2006 to 2014.
