Motus is a workforce management company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts[1][2][3] that provides fleet management and business intelligence solutions.[4] It helps employers calculate mileage reimbursement for employees who operate a motor vehicle not owned by the employer for the employer’s business purposes.[5][6][7] The Motus mobile app automates mileage tracking for business trips, submits reports for monthly reimbursement, and creates mileage logs that comply with Internal Revenue Service standards.[8][9][10] Motus is also the third-party contractor that advises the IRS on deductible rates for automotive expenses.[11]

Motus customers include companies in the food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, industrial manufacturing, and professional services industries.[12] Notable customers include Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated, Domino’s Pizza, Kellogg’s, and Yuengling.[13][14]

History

Motus was founded in 2004 as Corporate Reimbursement Services, Inc. (CRS) by Gregg Darish, and changed its name to Motus in 2014.[15] Craig Powell (businessman) currently serves as President and CEO.[16]

In August 2014, Motus released an integration with American cloud computing company Salesforce.com to instantly associate business stops with accounts, contacts and leads in the Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) product.[17]

In 2015, Motus announced an integration with American travel management company Concur Technologies to allow employees to submit mileage to Motus, calculate individual reimbursement amounts, and automatically create expense reports in Concur Expense for manager approval.[18]

In September 2015, Motus released an integration with Oracle Corporation to instantly associate Motus administrative activities with Oracle customer relationship management (CRM) software.[19]

In 2018, Motus was acquired by private equity and growth capital firm Thoma Bravo, LLC and merged with Runzheimer, creating the leading provider of mileage reimbursement technologies serving the nation's most complex transportation companies.[20][21] It also partnered with FleetCor Technologies, Inc., which provides fuel cards and workforce payment products and services.[22]

In September 2019, Motus acquired mobile expense management firm Wireless Analytics.[23][24]

Recognition

Motus was named one of the 20 Most Promising Field Service Solution Providers by CIOReview,[25] Top 10 Fleet Management Solution Providers by Logistics Tech Outlook,[26] and Best Employee Efficiency Technology by MITX[27] in 2017. It also won a 2018 HRO Today TekTonic Award in the Mobile category.[28] The company has been named among the best places to work in Boston[29][30][31][32] and Milwaukee,[33] company of the year,[34][35][36][37] and one of the largest mobile technology companies in Massachusetts.[38]
