Morteza Keyvan

Morteza Keyvan (Persian: مرتضی کیوان; Born 1921 – October 19, 1954) was an Iranian poet, art critic, newspaper editor and political activist associated with the Tudeh Party of Iran.

After the 1953 Iranian coup d'état he was arrested by the Pahlavi regime on accounts of "treason" on August 25 and later executed the same year on October 19 in the Qasr prison.[1]

He was a friend and frequent collaborator with other left-wing writers and poets of his time such as: Siavash Kasrai, Ahmad Shamlou, Houshang Ebtehaj, Nima Yooshij and many others.

Ebtehaj and Shamlou have written poems in the memory of his passing.[2]
