Monument Valley High School (Arizona)

Monument Valley High School is a high school in (Kayenta, Arizona). It is the only high school under the jurisdiction of the Kayenta Unified School District.

The high school was built in the mid-1950s, with the first graduating class in 1962. The original school building was shaped like an octagonal hogan; it burned down near the end of the 1978 school year. Later that year, the current school building was constructed.


The school's basketball and Volleyball teams play in The Nash Center which seats 3,800. The Arena opened in 1991, it was known as the Student Activity Center (1991-2015), At the time the SAC was the first largest arena on The Navajo Reservation until The year of 2006, The Arena was named after Lucinda and Robert Nash who were both coaches at the school, Lucinda Nash coached the Lady Mustangs Volleyball team, and won 37 state championships, Robert Nash coached Monument Valley's girls basketball team and won 4 state championships, they are considered legends on the Navajo Reservation and the town of Kayenta, The arena and auditorium were constructed and added to the school with the cost of $11 million, Before playing in The Nash Center the teams played in the 984 seated Beets Gymnasium.


Monument Valley is known for the state titles in the AIA 3A Division the school has achieved.
