Miss Vincent

Miss Vincent is an English punk rock band formed in Southampton, Hampshire, England in 2012[1]. The band currently features Alex Marshall (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Lawrie Pattison (lead guitar/backing vocals), Owain Mainwaring (bass guitar/backing vocals) and Nate Davenport (drums/backing vocals). The original three-piece lineup featured Marshall on bass guitar and drummer Jack Donnelly, before recruiting Mainwaring in 2013 (leading to Marshall moving to rhythm guitar)[2] and - to replace the departing Donnelly - Davenport in 2017.[3] The band are currently signed to Uncle M Records,[4] previously having been signed to Engineer Records.[5]

Musical style and influence

Miss Vincent have cited musical influences including Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion, Bayside,[6] Social Distortion, AFI,[7] The Ramones,[8] Against Me!, Our Time Down Here, and Gaslight Anthem,[9] leading to them being described as punk rock,[10][11][12][13] gothic punk[14][15][16] and gloomy punk.[17][18][19]

Band Name

After hearing the mention of a "Miss Vincent" in Alkaline Trio's "Queen of Pain", frontman Marshall was inspired to look into the character, discovering the story of Joyce Carol Vincent, inspiring him to write a song about her life. The song was initially titled "Miss Vincent" but the band eventually decided to change the song's title to "No One Knew" and used the song's original title to name the band instead.[20] "No One Knew" was the band's first single and it was released on 5 October 2012.
