Reception

The album received positive reviews upon its release. Behindwoods rated the album 3.25 out of 5, stating "Master is for masses - Anirudh's music is full of mass appeal as can be expected for a Vijay biggie!"[11] OnlyKollywood rated the album 3.75 out of 5, with a statement "Master brings a set of variant, stylish numbers in one bag, resulting in a splendid album that is hard to stay away from. There’s a great balance of motivation and elevation, and it has been meticulously strung together by Anirudh, who makes winning choices for the renditions. In an album that is almost devoid of love songs, built on a mass image and features a long list of tracks, Anirudh has succeeded in keeping our attention knit together and ultimately delivering what was promised as well. Though one may take some time to warm up to some of the songs, they are truly here to stay."[12] Indiaglitz gave 3.75/5 and quoted "The culmination of good composition, lyrics and singers make the album remarkably entertaining and highly listenable."[13] Moviecrow rated the album 3.5 out of 5, stating that "Anirudh easily delivered his best among his recent outings for the mass films with the vibrant soundtrack led by Vaathi Raid."[14]
